Thinking towards the future.

I'm not sure yet, but I'm thinking about doing Visual/Fine Arts as a major at MCTC. I like art and all, but I'm worried that it might be too hard for me. I could always do generals to start out with, I guess. I'm also unsure about getting a certificate in Central Services. It's only 10 credits, which isn't that hard. And it's also in the medical field, so getting a job wouldn't be that hard either.  I'd think about graphic design or something with video games, but that would mean more math. I don't feel entirely up to doing more math classes.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind getting a job as a video game tester, but then I need to get the systems. And of course I need to pay at first, and I'm basically broke, so I can't do that. At least not just yet.

  4. Do what you think you would be happy doing in the future, you don't want to goto school for something you don't really want to do and regret it. :)

  6. Dunno how fun game testing is, like jrep said. Less playing, more searching for glitches and errors.

I had the same issue with college though, just uncertainty about everything. I don't yet know what I'd want to pursue as a major, and I don't want to pursue anything unless I'm 100% sure I'll enjoy it. What could be worse than spending thousands of dollars years of your life on a degree only to realize you don't really like the work you do?

  7. although...video game testing usually involves playing the same buggy piece of crap level over and over and over again and reporting how/why the bug occurs, etc.

  9. Pick something that makes tons of money, because it always ends up that what you love makes you dirt poor :/

  10. I dont mean to be overly critical but if you think art is too hard I really dont know what to say. I dont think graphic design requires much math. Unless you mean like basic algebra, but thats not hard, you just have to find the motivation and apply yourself.

  11. Being a videogame tester is really signing up for slave labour, you have to play so much the games cease to become entertainment and they just become work. Unless you really, really like video games I don't think you should look into it.
